How I got to where I am today
I used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day. I binge drank on the weekends and really didn’t give much care to what I was eating or how I was sleeping. Sure, those days were back in my kidless 20’s, and I definitely made better choices in my 30’s, especially once we had a kid.
At my heaviest, I was just over 200 lbs. Constipation was an issue for me back then. Much of the liquid I drank was either coffee, soda, or alcohol. I ate fast food multiple times a week. In my 30’s, living with my then fiance, we ate a healthier diet, but I still vaped and drank on the weekends.
It took me a very long time to finally quit smoking. Even after having our first kid. Not even the birth of my first son got me to quit.
It took me finding something I wanted to do more than I wanted to smoke. I wanted to get better at swimming, so I had to get better at breathing. Gotta stop smoking to do that.
Over time, with a lot of trial and error, I’ve found a combination of nutrition, exercise, sleep, hydration and stress management that works for me.
Now, in my 40’s, I am stronger, feel more energetic, have a stronger focus and drive than I ever did in my 20’s. I’ve even still got a wicked strong libido.
I tell you all this not just to say I wish I knew then what I know now. That version of me wouldn’t have listened, anyway.
But I want you to know that whatever you are struggling with right now, I get it. It’s hard work. Change sucks. But being sick and tired sucks more.
I did things the hard way. I don’t want that for you. I became a health coach to help people fix the things they want to fix so they can live the lives they want to lead.
It’s simple, but it’s not easy.
