Why do I feel like crap all the time?

Hint: It's probably your hormones.

Ok, so maybe you don’t feel like crap all the time.

But I’d reckon that most days some of you struggle to wake up in the morning without caffeine. That you get hangry and tired about mid-morning. Maybe you get headaches at the base of your skull or behind your eyes on a daily basis.

Or you often find yourself being short and grumpy with your kids or partner, or not having patience with folks at work.

Maybe you feel sleepy after you eat, or have trouble falling asleep at night.

Women, maybe some of you experience irregular or difficult periods. Men you might be dealing with hair loss, low muscle, or lack of a sex drive.

Or perhaps you hold onto a bunch of extra stress and anxiety, some days feeling light and happy and others overwhelmed and blue.

What do all these things have in common?

They are signs your hormones are out of whack.

Your hormones are a symphony. Playing together in harmony, they keep your energy and mood balanced, your stress in check and your sleep on point.

They also regulate your metabolism, muscle and fat levels, your appetite, your reproductive functions, and even your hair growth.

Hormones are crazy important.

But with our modern lives, that symphony can get seriously out of harmony.

Processed foods and sugar-sweetened drinks drive up insulin resistance, making your pancreas work harder (and creating chronic inflammation).

Constantly eating throws off our hunger and fullness signals, and hyperpalatable food makes it very hard to stop eating.

Exposure to environmental toxins like pesticides and plastics disrupt hormone production and even bind to hormone receptors, keeping the real hormones out of your cells.

Poor sleep habits increase stress hormone levels, and throw off circadian rhythms for wake and sleep.

Grain-heavy diets cause blood sugar spikes and crashes, needing more insulin to store the glucose and cortisol to help release blood sugar when it runs out. This creates that energy rollercoaster many experience on a daily basis.

I could go on and on.

A disrupted hormonal symphony can create a whole host of issues, and those issues are going to be unique to you and your lifestyle.

So if you’re tired of always being tired, if you're done feeling like crap, but you just don’t know what to do, I’ve got you, boo.

I’ve got a plan to help you. Want to hear it? Here it goes:

  • We identify diet and lifestyle habits that may be causing blood sugar issues and insulin resistance.

  • We establish a consistent daily eating window that works for you.

  • We land on healthy food swaps and additions that boost nutrient density in your diet.

  • We figure out ways to get more movement and activity into your day, especially with weights.

  • We’ll spend some time getting your mind right and helping you deal with stress.

  • We look at if any supplements are appropriate to address an issue or fill in some nutritional gaps.

All of these steps are meant to fit into your life now, not to completely blow up your life. We want to find steps that are sustainable for you.

We work at it for 3 months, testing and adjusting and finding what works. I’m there to give you the tools you need, but also to support you and hold you accountable along the way.
